Gene Hackman's date of death comes to light and carbon monoxide poisoning is ruled out
The deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, are being investigated for the strange circumstances surrounding them. Now, it has been revealed when the actor would have died and why.
The deaths of actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, at 95 and 63 years old respectively, have been considered "suspicious" after the first police reports.
The circumstances in which their bodies were found in their home in Santa Fe (New Mexico) have been very strange: both were found in different rooms of the house next to the corpse of one of their dogs in a closet (the other two are healthy) and near Arakawa there were scattered pills and he had "mummification of hands and feet".
Now, the sheriff of Santa Fe County, Adan Mendoza, has revealed, according to EFE, the day on which the actor would have died.
Apparently, the last signal from the pacemaker he had is from February 17, nine days before he was found dead. Therefore, it is assumed that this date was the date on which the two-time Oscar-winning actor died.
"It is a valid assumption that that was his last day of life," Mendoza said at a press conference.
However, the authorities have not yet determined the cause of death for Hackman or Arakawa, but on Friday they ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning. They have also said that there is no evidence of a criminal act.
The final results of the autopsy and the toxicological analysis could take months to arrive, although investigators are still working on making the chronology of the events.
